The Head of Special Education Services (HOSES) at Brisbane Central State School is a key member of the school's leadership team and plays a crucial role in driving excellence in inclusive education.

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the Principal and broader leadership team, the HOSES leads whole school approaches that uphold the school's strong commitment to diversity, equity, and high expectations for every student.
  • The HOSES will lead the capability development of teachers and support staff to implement evidence based inclusive pedagogies, differentiated instruction, and targeted interventions within a robust multi tiered system of support (MTSS).
  • The role also involves fostering meaningful partnerships with families, staff, and external agencies to ensure coordinated and effective support for students with disability and additional learning needs.
  • As a strategic leader, the HOSES contributes to the school's improvement agenda through data informed decision making, collaborative practice, and a strong focus on maximising student outcomes in a dynamic, culturally diverse urban school environment.

We are seeking an experienced and collaborative inclusion leader who demonstrates:

  • Deep expertise in inclusive education leadership within diverse school communities
  • Thorough understanding of differentiated instruction and evidence based inclusive pedagogies
  • Strong capability in analysing and using data to inform planning, intervention, and school wide improvement
  •  Proven ability to build teacher capability and lead high impact teaching practices
  • Extensive knowledge of adjustments, the Australian Curriculum, disability legislation and support frameworks
  • Capacity to design, implement, and monitor whole school systems of inclusion and MTSS
  • Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills to build strong partnerships with families, staff, and external providers
  • A commitment to high expectations, equity, and excellence for all learners
  • Strong understanding of Systematic Synthetic Phonics
    This position is well suited to a leader with experience in:
  • Inclusive education leadership roles
  • Multi Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and Response to Intervention (RtI) models
  • Designing and leading whole school inclusion strategies
  • Data driven decision making in diverse educational settings
  • Instructional and collaborative leadership aligned to school improvement priorities
