Who We Are:
Millenba (formerly Barrett Adolescent School) is an alternative state high school located in Tennyson, supporting up to 50 students who have disengaged from mainstream education due to complex and ongoing mental health challenges.
Millenba provides a flexible, inclusive and individualised learning environment that enables students to re-engage with education through the Australian Curriculum and a range of senior pathways.
Most students attend for 12 to 18 months before being supported to transition into further education, training or employment aligned with their learning goals and future aspirations.
Your Role:
As the Teacher Aide, you will contribute to the provision of a quality educational service by supporting students to re-engage in the educational setting. You will assist and support students to engage in lessons, regulate emotions, positively interact with others and work with teachers to enhance student participation in lessons and activities.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students to help them to engage in learning activiies
- Work collaboratively with staff to support students to re-engage in education
- Adhere to and follow individual student support and action plans
- Assist in the supervision of educational activities, under the direction of a teacher
- Display respect and empathy for vulnerable students with complex needs
- Display confidentiality and sensitively to students and their families
- Communicate effectively and display high levels of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member
- Foster a positive, inclusive and safe classroom environment where all students feel valued and supported.

About You:
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards working with children with mental health challenges to adapt to diverse learning styles and needs.
- Stong communication and interpersonal skills.
