The role 

The Principal Project Officer reports to the Manager, Health Systems Management within the Digital Health Branch and is responsible for leading the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health system projects.  This includes the provision of clinical and technical support for key business processes within the Intensive Care Unit Clinical Information System (ICU CIS) to improve efficiency, promote best practice principles and ensure equity of access to public hospital services.  This role is heavily focused in clinical engagement as well as consumer interaction to support various clinical applications. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice to the Department of Health Executives, internal and external stakeholders, on best practice business processes and the intensive care clinical information system to ensure consistency with the organisational direction and strategic intent.
  • Liaise with strategic reference groups and external vendors in relation to the development and design and configuration of clinical information systems to support the Digital Health Branch's agenda.
  • Manage clinical information system projects in collaboration with the Hospital and Health Services to ensure solutions are responsive to customer needs.

About you

We are searching for someone who:

  • A comprehensive understanding of the Queensland Health environment, with an understanding of clinical information systems and clinical service delivery pertaining to Intensive Care Services.
  • Experience in Metavision would be advantageous.
  • Advanced time management skills, including the ability to define tasks, set priorities and coordinate activities effectively to meet competing deadlines, with a track record of proven and sustained outcomes.
  • Provide high quality, effective and efficient advice and subject matter expertise to users of the Intensive Care Information system across Queensland Health's business, both within and outside the ICU area.
  • Demonstrated experience in applying project management methodologies, including the application of change management principles in order to optimise local or state-wide solutions, work practices and processes involved in clinical service delivery within a hospital environment.
  • Proven ability to communicate with influence; interpersonal, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to cultivate productive working relationships and networks.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide authoritative written advice to senior management on a range of complex organisational issues and the ability to prepare complex submissions, briefings, and reports.
