The Role

An opportunity has become available for a Senior Carer Peer Coordinator (Identified Lived Experience - Mental Health) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.

You will

  • Provide high level advice and consultation to Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) teams, to respond to the needs of young people, their parents, extended families and Kin
  • Act as a positive role model to consumers, families, Kin, unpaid carers and natural supports, and staff
  • Engage in positive collaboration with CYMHS partner agencies on lived-living experience (peer-carer peer) mental health support activities, including strategies to meet community expectations and operational priorities
  • Contribute to the leadership, support, supervision, and direction of CYMHS Family Carer Peer Workers and Advanced Family Carer Peer Workers

 About you

To be successful in this position you will require:

  • A Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer and/or Carer Peer Work is a requirement of this position
  • Certificate IV in Mental Health and similar qualifications or higher and other relevant educational qualifications such as a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or higher would be well regarded
  • Blue card/ Working with Children Check (GCH will cover cost)
  • Driver Licence
  • Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
  • Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
  • Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

  • Permanent full time
  • Base salary ranging from $107 065 - $116 335 per annum

Gold Coast Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS) are progressive mental health specialist services, providing mental health services to children, adolescents and young adults from birth to 25 years old. We offer comprehensive, trauma informed, systemically integrated care for young people and their families.   CYMHS services are diverse, spanning multiple tiers within the mental health system. Our specialist teams include acute inpatient treatment services, acute assessment and management, intensive case management, consultation liaison, short term intervention/restorative services as well as primary care early intervention and collaborative partnerships.
