Director

The Director of the Remote Indigenous Land and Infrastructure Program Office (RILIPO) will facilitate and enhance opportunities for the delivery of critical infrastructure and housing projects that fosters economic, social, and cultural opportunities in remote Indigenous communities.
Leading the team through a period of transformation, you will shape a renewed program of work focused on achieving measurable outcomes under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap in keeping with the State’s priorities and the Department’s strategic objectives that focused strategic interventions that benefit a range of remove and discrete communities.

About the department
The Department of Women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Multiculturalism is responsible for fostering an environment that allows Queensland women to be economically secure. We work closely with other agencies, peak bodies, local leaders, and the community to lift the living standards of Aboriginal communities and Torres Strait Islander communities. We facilitate an environment where multicultural communities want to call Queensland home by harnessing their skill and expertise and celebrating the cultural diversity of our State.
About the team
The RILIPO team facilitates development across 17 remote and discrete Indigenous Local Government areas, to identify and maximise opportunities for the State to deliver on the outcomes established in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap - focused on or critical infrastructure projects to support initiatives that address health, education, housing, employment and economic development initiatives.

Specific role requirements
• Knowledge of or experience applying the provisions of the Planning Act 2016 and associated planning instruments
• Strong communication skills and an understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and societies, both historical and contemporary.
• Regular travel, including to remote Indigenous communities, is required,
• The team is based in Cairns; if the successful candidate is based elsewhere, frequent travel to Cairns will be required with overnight stays as necessary.
• A current driver's licence.
