We have an AO8 Special Policy Advisor vacancy available in the Queensland Revenue Office (QRO).
In this role, you will be a key member of the Policy & Legislation Division which serves to apply, review, & appropriately maintain Queensland's revenue legislation & provide reliable revenue policy advice to the Queensland Government. As a Special Policy Advisor, you will be responsible for providing high level policy advice on complex State revenue & related issues. You will also lead and manage the delivery of QRO’s legislative program and progress complex amendments to revenue legislation. This is an exciting opportunity within the Policy and Legislation Division at Queensland Revenue Office.
As a Special Policy Advisor you will work in a small, high achieving team to advise on policy and legislative issues across the breadth of Queensland's revenue legislation, including taxes, grants, royalty, fine administration and penalty debt.
Your typical day as a Special Policy Advisor may include opportunities to:
• Lead and manage the delivery of the Queensland Revenue Office's (QRO's) legislative program, working both individually to progress complex amendments to revenue legislation and with a team of policy officers to deliver less complex amendments. You will have a unique opportunity to influence and lead legislative changes from conception all the way through to implementation.
• Provide accurate, timely and reliable advice on revenue policy, legislative and other related emergent issues to the Commissioner of State Revenue, the Under Treasurer and Treasurer to inform strategy and decision-making.
• Work collaboratively with operational teams in QRO and with other policy teams in Queensland Treasury and across government.
As a member of the Divisional leadership team, you will work with the Director, Manager and other Special Policy Advisors to develop work programs, plan resource allocation and drive skill, capability and knowledge development, constructive culture priorities and business improvement activities.
