We know that moving for your career is a big step, which is why we are committed to making your transition to Moura as seamless as possible. We offer a comprehensive relocation assistance package and access to local accommodation to help you settle into the rhythm of country life (conditions apply). You'll join a dedicated multidisciplinary team at the Moura Multipurpose Health Service, a contemporary facility currently expanding with a new $17.2M aged care wing. With clinical mentoring from the Medical Superintendent and telehealth links to regional hubs, you'll have the support you need to thrive professionally while enjoying the affordability and natural beauty of Central Queensland.
About us:
Moura MPHS is a contemporary facility that serves as a vital hub for the agricultural and resource-based Dawson Valley. Opening its doors in 2015, the service provides emergency, acute, and palliative care, alongside a thriving private practice. We are a team committed to "Great Care for Central Queenslanders," investing in our people's future so that our residents can stay close to home and family while receiving high-quality healthcare.
About the role:
This is rural medicine at its most rewarding. You'll work alongside the Medical Superintendent Private Practice to deliver a broad scope of care—from 24-hour emergency department coverage and inpatient management at the Moura MPHS to running your own private clinic at the surgery in Minogue Street.
Your days will be varied, encompassing ward rounds, public outpatient clinics, and emergency response. As the facility expands with a new eight-bed residential aged care unit on track for completion in 2026, you will play a key role in supporting our older residents to remain close to home. You'll be part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, contributing to quality improvement, benchmarking, and community health initiatives.
There is significant flexibility to grow, with access to mentoring from the Executive Director Medical Services and professional development arrangements with Gladstone Hospital and the broader CQ Health network.
About you:
- You hold a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent and are eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- You are enrolled in or have been accepted into a Specialist General Practice training program.
- You possess current Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) certifications.
- You demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and skills across primary care, emergency medicine, and geriatrics.
- You have the ability to provide effective general practice services, including emergency childbirth situations.
- You have a sound understanding of community health, including Aboriginal health and public health epidemiology.
