What your day could look like

As a Pharmacy Assistant, you'll help keep care moving across our hospital—supporting pharmacists, clinicians and patients so safe, timely access to medicines is never in doubt. You'll be part of a team that values collaboration and practical problem‑solving to deliver great outcomes for our community.

Every day, you'll contribute by:

  • Getting the right medicine to the right person, on time—dispensing under pharmacist supervision so patients start or continue therapy without delay.
  • Keeping wards ready for care—optimising stock levels, rotating inventory and reducing waste across clinical areas.
  • Lifting quality and safety—preparing sterile and non‑sterile products to defined standards that protect patients and staff.
  • Powering the process—maintaining accurate data and PBS claim workflows so our service is efficient, compliant and patient‑centred.

Let's Talk About You

You bring both capability and care. You're detail‑driven when accuracy matters, calm in busy moments, and motivated by the difference reliable medicine supply makes for every patient and team. You act with Compassion, Integrity and Dignity, look for better ways to work with Innovation, and step up with Courage to support others.

Here's what will help you thrive in this role:

  • Certificate III in Hospital/Health Services Pharmacy Support (or equivalent); community pharmacy experience with ward‑stock competency completed shortly after commencement.
  • Proven accuracy interpreting prescriptions and producing clear, correct labels.
  • Working knowledge of hospital stock management and PBS processes.
  • Collaborative teammate with strong communication and respect for patient confidentiality.

You'll stand out if you have experience in hospital sterile production or cytotoxic compounding, and/or prior work in a regional health setting.

Together, we'll deliver safe, timely access to medicines—advancing better care across Darling Downs Health, every shift.
