About Kelvin Grove State College:

Kelvin Grove State College is part of a unique educational precinct, just three kilometres from Brisbane's central business district and directly adjacent to the Queensland University of Technology.

This is articulated and promoted through our Just Cause: “Nurturing globally competent learners, leaders and citizens.” Each of the college's Heads of Department lead large and complex areas of responsibility within a P-12 institution of approximately 3700 students.

About the Role:

As Head of Department (English), you will lead a large team to design and deliver innovative and responsive curricular and co-curricular programs within the English Department.

You will oversee the coordination of the English curriculum and enrichment programs from year 6 to year 12. You will contribute to the broader strategic agenda of the college as a member of Kelvin Grove State College's Leadership Team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the school department to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with students, parents, other government agencies, and community groups.

About You:

The role of Head of Department (English) is suited to a dynamic, relational and organised educator with a passion for curriculum leadership and for building capable and high-performing teams.

The ideal candidate will set high standards for student and staff performance, be futures oriented and strategic, and demonstrate a holistic, proactive and collaborative approach to leading a large and complex department area in alignment with the college's strategic priorities.
