The successful applicant will be supported to undertake a Certificate III or Certificate IV qualification through available funded training pathways. This will include participation in a structured program of learning and assessment designed to support the attainment of the relevant nationally recognised qualification.
In this role as Pathology Assistant, you will contribute to the delivery of a high-quality pathology service through a diverse range of responsibilities. Your duties will include phlebotomy collections to both inpatient and outpatients, receiving, preparing, and dispatching specimens for analysis, accurately registering request forms, managing stores, and supporting clinical pathology activities.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)
You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated ability to effectively use computerised systems, basic keyboarding skills particularly for data entry.
- Demonstrated operational knowledge of Clinical Pathology and Specimen Reception procedures, and medical and scientific terminology.
- Demonstrated knowledge of blood collection, including procedures to be followed in abnormal circumstances, and ability to show empathy, compassion and understanding towards patients.
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a team without direct supervision at times.
- Demonstrated ability to follow instructions.
