Your new role:

As a Registered Nurse in CSSD, you will deliver safe, compassionate, and person-centred care while supporting the critical processes that underpin every clinical procedure.

This role offers the opportunity to grow from a developing practitioner into a highly skilled clinical professional, with exposure to leadership responsibilities, quality initiatives, and evidence-based practice. You'll work across a rotating roster, including day, evening, and night shifts, as well as on-call requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality, person-centred care through effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Support safe sterilisation and clinical practices aligned with established standards and protocols
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including Nursing, Allied Health, and Medical staff
  • Demonstrate accountability for clinical decisions, delegated care, and patient outcomes

The Princess Alexandra Hospital is a major teaching and referral centre and one of the largest hospitals in Australia and one of the largest providers of surgical services in the country. In line with government health strategies, the Princess Alexandra Hospital is focusing on high acuity patients under the care of the Medical, Surgical, Heart Lung and Critical Care, Cancer, and Rehabilitation Divisions. The Princess Alexandra Hospital is committed to the delivery of high-quality health care, teaching and research services.

The Division of Surgery provides comprehensive tertiary and quaternity specialty inpatient, ambulatory, outpatient and perioperative services in a large variety of specialty units at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. These services provide specialised multidisciplinary care to patients and their families within the Division, utilising advanced practice models of care that result in optimal patient outcomes and cost-efficient services.

The Central Sterilising Services Department (CSSD) is responsible for reprocessing of instruments and equipment required/used for Peri-operative Services, Days Surgery and Treatment Unit; some Ward associated clinics, Donate Life Services and Respiratory Clinic.
