Wildlife Officer
Wildlife & Threatened Species Operations; Management & Operations; QPWS & Partnerships; Cairns or Mackay
We are seeking a wildlife officer who is able to work collaboratively in a team.
The team operates in remote northern Queensland to deliver services to conserve and protect native and threatened wildlife and associated habitat. You will be based in Mackay or Cairns, with travel required throughout remote northern Queensland. A coxswain licence is not mandatory, but would be highly regarded.
A broad skill set in operational tasks and equipment use and maintenance in remote isolated areas, along with proficient administrative skill set would be ideal.

Wildlife Officers in Northern Wildlife Operations have a focus on wildlife management. This includes working with crocodiles, cassowaries and flying-foxes. This may require safely responding to isolated and remote situations in North Queensland for extended periods of time. Tasks are likely to include operating communication and navigational systems, employing survival techniques, undertaking equipment repair, and the use of environmental indicators to make decisions. You may be required to undertake short term stays in remote locations with little or no facilities available.
