An exciting permanent opportunity has become available for a Designer (Civil) to join the Design team, Technical Services unit Far North District, based in Cairns.

The design team operates as an in-house provider of expert services and advice to internal Project Managers. The design team works closely with internal customers undertaking planning, preconstruction and delivery to provide services and advice across a range of transport infrastructure projects from minor infrastructure upgrades to new, major infrastructure.

In the role of Designer (Civil), you will be part of the TMR Far North District's Design team which is responsible for providing management and delivery of design services on transport infrastructure projects or as components of the project. The design team operates as an in-house provider of expert advice and design services to internal Project Managers and Stakeholders.

Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Provide civil drafting and design services, under supervision ensuring compliance with relevant TMR policies, standards, guidelines, and legislation to meet project objectives.
• Apply technical judgment to investigate, analyse, and conceptualise design options and solutions for road and transport infrastructure project success.
• Capable of utilising and enhancing proficiency in specialised Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) 3D software applications, including 12d and AutoCAD.
• Based on level of appointment you will possess the ability or ability to develop capability in:
• Engage and communicate with multidisciplinary teams and provide technical advice and support for design processes.
• Contribute to the preparation of contract documents, determining construction costs, and safety in built infrastructure.
• Review and provide technical and design advice.

Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• A minimum two-year, Dublin Accord accredited engineering degree such as an Associate Degree in Engineering (Civil) or recognised equivalence.
• A current Class ‘C' Drivers Licence
• Must be eligible to work in Australia.
• Pre-employment check of serious discipline history for the recommended candidate(s) as a condition of employment.

Desirable requirements
• More advanced qualifications such as Bachelor of Engineering Technology (Civil), or equivalent qualification, accredited under the Sydney Accord, are welcome to apply.
• AutoCAD and/ or 12d Model software experience
