In this role, you will be conducting and leading complex audits and investigations and making complex determinations, in relation to taxpayers’ compliance with Queensland’s revenue laws. You will be using a risk-based revenue management approach to ensure compliance with tax obligations and legislation administered by QRO, you will be involved in identifying risks to revenue and making recommendations for the treatment of those risks, and you will provide a leadership role within the division as a coach/mentor.

The Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) has multiple permanent flexible full-time vacancies working as an AO6 Senior Investigations Officer - Complex in Brisbane.
In this role, you will be conducting and leading complex audits and investigations and making complex determinations, in relation to taxpayers' compliance with Queensland's revenue laws. You will be using a risk-based revenue management approach to ensure compliance with tax obligations and legislation administered by QRO, you will be involved in identifying risks to revenue and making recommendations for the treatment of those risks, and you will provide a leadership role within the division as a coach/mentor.
The vacancies currently exist with the Royalty & Complex Assessments division, however this process may be used to fill future vacancies across other revenue lines in Brisbane.
Your typical day as a Senior Investigations Officer - Complex may include:
• Speaking or corresponding with clients in relation to audits and investigations.
• Reviewing financial records and contracts to assess risk and determine whether clients have complied with royalty or tax laws.
• Writing statutory notices, case plans, and case reports.
• Collaborating with peers and briefing supervisors.
• Contributing to risk assessment for case selection and identifying legislative, policy, and process improvements.
To be successful in this role you will need experience in:
• Audit and/or investigation roles in a financial or tax environment
• Analysing, interpreting and applying legislation
• Taking ownership of your own development and growth and
• Applying your knowledge and skills to solve problems collaboratively
There are no mandatory qualifications for the role, however relevant qualifications are highly regarded (e.g. accounting, business, tax, law).
