Alexandra Hills State High School is seeking a Guidance Officer - Student Wellbeing to join our team, to make a meaningful impact supporting student wellbeing and success in a collaborative school community.

The Guidance Officer employed in this role will provide direct support for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

This position is being offered in a Temporary Part-Time capacity (0.8FTE), 40 hours per fortnight.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

This is a specialist role whose day-to-day activities, responsibilities and role include:

  • Identification, support and therapeutic intervention planning for students' mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Provide advice and counselling on educational, behavioural, vocational, personal, social, family and mental health and wellbeing issues for students with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
  • Provide support and ensure safety plans for the school context are implemented for students who are self-harming and/or at risk of suicide.
  • Support promotion, prevention, awareness and capability building regarding mental health and wellbeing within the school community and school leadership teams.
  • Provide and facilitate wellbeing initiatives, such as Mental Health Week and school-based programs.
  • Provide support and counselling for students individually or in small group settings.
