About the Team/Organisation:
The Passenger Rollingstock and Signalling (PRS) Branch forms part of the department's recently established Rail Division and plays an impactful role in delivering and managing rollingstock and signalling projects that are innovative, integrated and accessible to meet the growing demand for rail services in South East Queensland.
Key responsibilities:
The purpose of the Advisor (Finance) is to support the PRS Branch and project teams to meet project objectives by ensuring financial priorities and deadlines are achieved and high-quality standards are maintained.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
• Undertake accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
• Prepare and provide timely written and verbal financial advice in accordance with departmental business and governance frameworks to support branch correspondence, briefs and reports.
• Develop and maintain spreadsheets including registers for analysis.
• Prepare timely and accurate reporting to ensure successful business outcomes.
• Develop and refine local business processes and practices for continuous improvement within the finance function.
• Contribute to the on-going financial training and development of staff within the PRS Branch Services and Project Teams.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions:
• Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
Requirements of the role:
• Proven expertise in financial management, including budgeting, reporting, and analysis, with proficiency in financial software.
• Ability to identify trends and provide actionable recommendations.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills collaborating across multiple business areas and project teams to support financial objectives.
• Experience in drafting quality correspondence and reports to facilitate accurate and timely decision making.
