Your new role:
As a Clinical Nurse Consultant within the CYMHS Consultation Liaison team, you will provide advanced clinical expertise and leadership to support young people with complex mental health needs in paediatric inpatient units. Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, you will influence care delivery, guide clinical practice, and ensure safe, high-quality, person-centred outcomes.
In this role, you will:
- Provide advanced clinical assessment, care planning, and consultancy
- Lead and support nursing staff in complex clinical decision-making
- Deliver person-centred care across the continuum
- Drive quality improvement, clinical governance, and service innovation
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimise patient outcomes
- Support education, mentoring, and workforce development initiatives
About you:
You are a highly skilled and motivated nursing professional with advanced clinical expertise in child and youth mental health. You bring strong leadership capability and a passion for improving outcomes for young people and their families.
You will demonstrate:
- Registration as a Registered Nurse with NMBA
- Advanced clinical knowledge in child and youth mental health (CYMHS)
- Strong critical thinking and complex problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and support multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in quality improvement, clinical governance, and evidence-based practice
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and research-informed practice

About Metro South Child and Youth Mental Health Service Consultation Liaison Team
The Metro South Child and Youth Mental Health Service Consultation Liaison Team (CYMHS CL) supports the paediatric inpatient units at Logan and Redland Hospitals. CYMHS CL provides safe and timely input for youth consumers admitted to these wards with co-morbid mental health needs or those presenting with clinically significant distress. This is a multi-disciplinary team that consists of a Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Consultants, a Consultant Psychiatrist, Psychiatry Registrars, and an Administration Officer. The team functions in a consultation capacity with direct consumer care provided by inpatient paediatric staff.
