The Corporate Services Division provides support services necessary for Queensland Health to function effectively and deliver essential health services. As a Principal Finance Officer, you will be responsible for providing leadership and expertise to ensure timely and accurate delivery of departmental operational financial accounting activities, compliance with legislative and prescribed requirements and Australian Accounting Standards, Queensland Treasury Reporting Requirements, and provision of specialist and professional advice at all levels of management and key stakeholders relating to financial accounting.
What you'll do:
As a Principal Finance Officer in Financial Accounting, you will contribute to the provision of operational financial accounting services and associated accounting standards compliance requirements for the Department of Health. You will monitor, review, and ensure that month end activities, reconciliations and analytical tasks performed by the team are completed on a monthly basis. You will contribute to, or prepare as needed, responses to urgent requests for financial information, such as management briefs or questions on notice, ensuring all formal requests are addressed accurately and within the required timeframe. Additionally, you will undertake regular reviews of operational guidelines, policies, and procedures to drive continuous improvement and maintain compliance with evolving accounting standards and financial reporting requirements.
About you
We are searching for somone who:
- Demonstrates a detailed knowledge of, and recent experience in, the practical application of Australian Accounting Standards, Financial Reporting Requirements for Queensland Government Agencies, legislation, contemporary financial management practices and policies.
- Demonstrated experience in providing comprehensive and well-rounded advice to all levels of management and other stakeholders and in the development of policies, procedures, and reporting mechanisms.
- Demonstrated involvement and success in leading continuous improvement programs and initiatives in the areas of operational financial accounting, with demonstrated ability to work within and thrive in successful teams.
