The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. About your opportunity
This is an exciting temporary opportunity for three years to work closely with a dedicated team of administration and legal professionals to deliver high-quality responses and submissions to relevant boards and committees overseeing the prosecution of sexual offences. As a Principal Policy Officer, you will:
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-calibre responses and submissions to boards and committees responsible for overseeing Queensland's response to sexual violence.
• Prepare detailed submissions and correspondence in response to requests for information, supported by high-quality data and case analysis related to the prosecution of sexual offences.
• Develop and deliver responses to enquiries and information requests from the Office of the Victims Commissioner, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
• Implement and manage the prosecution monitoring and review framework, providing expert policy advice to the Directorate to support informed decision-making.
• Oversee the collection, analysis, and interpretation of statistical data and information to enhance the legal case review process.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with prosecution and legal practitioners within the prosecution services to ensure effective collaboration.
• Design and implement a suite of tools and templates to standardise and improve the quality of outputs for relevant boards and committees.
What we're looking for
• A strong understanding, or the ability to quickly develop knowledge, of key legislation relevant to the prosecution of criminal offences in Queensland, particularly sexual offences.
• Demonstrated experience in preparing high-quality submissions and reports to inform stakeholders, governance boards, and committees, and to drive policy change.
• Ability to lead and manage a small team of administration professionals, fostering accountability and delivering outcomes.
• Exceptional ability to communicate complex issues and findings effectively to diverse audiences, driving continual improvement and informed decision-making.
• High-level analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities to interpret data, identify trends, and provide evidence-based recommendations.
• Demonstrated respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion, cultural maturity, ethical integrity, and professionalism.
