About us:

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is held with professionalism and integrity.

About your opportunity:

This is an exciting temporary, flexible full-time opportunity to June 2027, with possibility of extension. As a State Manager, you will:

• Oversee service delivery in line with the Charter of Victims' Rights, ensuring consistent and high-quality support for victims of crime.
• Set service delivery standards and manage complaints referral and assessment processes.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for providing accurate and timely information, and monitoring their implementation by chamber-based staff.
• Establish metrics and targets for the Victim Liaison Service, using data to identify issues and drive performance improvements.
• Lead and supporting a team of Victim Liaison Coordinators, providing advice, guidance, and training to coordinators and Victim Liaison Officers.
• Recruit and train staff to ensure continuity of service delivery, in consultation with the ODPP HR Unit.
• Establish and manage the Victim Liaison Call Centre Pilot, including developing policies, procedures, and processes for call centre liaison officers working across two shifts each business day.
• Initiate contact with victims of violent crimes and assist them through the legal process with empathy and professionalism.
• Oversee the quality, content, and timeliness of correspondence with victims, police officers, legal practitioners, and court staff.

What we're looking for:

• Have experience in overseeing service delivery in alignment with the Charter of Victims' Rights, ensuring high-quality and consistent support for victims of crime.
• Be skilled in developing and maintaining policies and procedures, and monitoring their implementation by staff.
• Demonstrate the ability to establish and monitor metrics and targets to identify issues and drive performance improvements.
• Possess strong leadership skills to guide and support a team of Victim Liaison Coordinators and Officers, providing advice, guidance, and training.
• Have experience in recruiting and training staff to ensure continuity of service delivery.
• Be capable of establishing and managing a call centre, including developing policies, procedures, and processes for call centre operations.
• Show a commitment to supporting victims of violent crimes, providing guidance and assistance throughout the legal process.
• Exhibit strong communication skills to oversee the quality, content, and timeliness of correspondence with victims, police officers, legal practitioners, and court staff.

Mandatory requirements:

This role does not require qualifications, however tertiary qualifications in social services, psychology, law and criminology will be looked upon favourably.
