In this role you will have the following responsibilities and accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage the Intake and Assessment function of the Regulations team by applying a risk-based approach to reviewing and assessing allegations aligned to the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Schemes under the CSO Act.
  • Manage a team of Authorised Officers by applying strong caseload management practices and expertise in evidence-based decision making in accordance with legislation, use of powers, gathering evidence and escalating matters.
  • Manage and monitor the oversight of intake and assessments of organisations' responses to allegations under the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct Schemes, to provide resources and support to organisations for preventative systems and measures.
  • Manage the implementation of consistent, transparent, and robust child and cultural safety-centred regulatory practices under the CSO Act.
  • Provide detailed and evidence-based advice and reasoned recommendation to internal and external stakeholders in relation to specific cases, to ensure that decisions or actions are within the law, regulation and policy.
  • Support the Director, Regulations and other managers by providing operational leadership with a focus of actively identifying, analysing, reviewing and responding to emerging issues and areas of risk.
  • Lead the development and application of current best practice regulatory methodologies and processes that develop a culture of continuous improvement and practice reflection.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders in order to facilitate the provision of appropriate advice and effective implementation of the Child Safe Standards and the Reportable Conduct schemes.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve operations by supporting the quality assurance framework incorporating people, processes and technology.
  • Represent the Commission at forums, meetings and community of practice working groups and build relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes diversity and inclusion in everyday work, by building a workforce that represents and reflects the diverse views, experiences and backgrounds of the community we serve.
