An opportunity exists to join Infrastructure Asset Management as an Engineering Services Manager. Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Asset Management, this role provides strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the department. It is the single point of accountability for service delivery outcomes and leads the development and delivery of performance-based infrastructure, asset and maintenance management to meet the operational and strategic needs of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service.

About us:

Infrastructure Asset Management provides planning, construction, operation and maintenance of all Health Service physical facilities, engineering systems, plant and equipment to meet strategic objectives within a quality environment. Infrastructure Asset Management (IAM) is staffed with professional, trade, operational, and administrative staff. Trades include electrical, fitting, plumbing, carpentry, refrigeration, painting, trade assistants, and apprentices.

The unit is accountable for facility maintenance and asset management in CHHHS and ensures all clinical and administrative buildings are compliant with statutory checks and inspections necessary to comply with Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards. IAM provides a 24-hour corrective maintenance and breakdown service for the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service facilities.

About your role:

  • Plan, implement, manage, monitor and report on minor works projects
  • Provide leadership to IAM and ensure integration of IAM in all infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and implement annual IAM emergency response procedures and continuity of essential services plans.
  • Develop and maintain IAM service delivery policies, procedures, instructions and all relevant contractor orientation documentation and work permit in accordance with legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver a robust and effective asset management framework in accordance with the principles of the international standard ISO55001 “Asset Management” for the Health Service, by ensuring there is strong asset governance and risk management, accurate and comprehensive planning, budgeting and forecasting and timely and accurate reporting with a focus on compliance.
