Registrar - Microbiology - Central Laboratory

Seeking the best suited applicant to contribute fully to departmental activities as a Microbiology Registrar, to the extent of your ability and level of training, under the guidance of the Discipline Medical Director – Microbiology competitive salary applies which includes base salary, vocational training subsidy, professional development leave, examination leave, 5 weeks annual leave and 12.75% superannuation. The registrar will be involved in education and research activities and will provide clinical support and set a professional example to more junior clinical and /or scientific staff.

Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Academic achievement and interest in Microbiology; proven ability to succeed in medical examinations.
  • Interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as a team member and to relate successfully with other staff at all levels.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in both spoken and written English in formal, informal presentation of scientific, teaching or clinical material.
  • Ability, interest and willingness to participate in the teaching of pathology and research.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent and must be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • The successful applicant is not guaranteed a training position beyond 31.01.2027 and is advised to apply through the RMO campaign if intending to continue microbiology training in 2027.
  • Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
