About us:
We are the behind-the-scenes heroes keeping healthcare safe, clean, and one step ahead of sneaky microbes. Infection Control practitioners are the ultimate coordinators: preventing, tracking, and shutting down healthcare-associated infections before they can cause chaos.
Every healthcare worker plays a part, because winning the war on germs is a team sport and we play to win! Everything we do is backed by the big guns: legislation, national and international guidelines, and Australian Standards. We follow a rock-solid Infection Control Management Plan, aligned with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standard (especially Standard 3, which is basically our playbook for stopping infections in their tracks).
About the role:
As a Clinical Nurse Grade 6, you're not just any Registered Nurse – you're a multi-talented powerhouse. You will blend hands-on clinical care with leadership, education, and a dash of research, all while keeping infection control standards squeaky clean.
This role is mostly clinical, but you'll also team up with the Practice Leader – Infection Control to guide, support, and influence teams across Central Queensland Health.
You'll deliver top-tier, evidence-based care that gets real results for patients; while making sure everything aligns with national standards. Help design, roll out, and monitor infection control strategies that keep everyone safe.
- Support teams with expert infection control advice
- Audit things like hand hygiene and aseptic technique
- Help run prevention programs, including vaccines
- Jump into outbreak management with public health experts when needed
This role is big on growth. You'll keep learning, building your skills, and levelling up your expertise because staying ahead of germs means staying ahead of the game.
About you:
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration. Tick!
- You bring the brains and the standards: You have a solid grip on infection control guidelines, national standards, and evidence-based practice.
- You're a team player (with leadership vibes): You build strong relationships across teams, bring people together, and know how to motivate others to lift their game.
- You get things done: Whether you're flying solo or collaborating, you can manage your workload, think ahead, and put smart strategies in place to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
- You've got the gift of the gab (and the spreadsheets): You communicate clearly, confidently, and with impact, whether you're writing reports, presenting ideas, or explaining the why behind infection control practices.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $44,560 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $57.48 - $61.55 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
