The role 

The Enterprise Architect will lead digital enablement of the health system using highly specialised architectural and leadership skills and methods across Queensland Health. Enterprise Architecture is used to support and influence Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) enabled business change and related ICT planning and investment decisions for assets.

Key responsibilities:

  • Develop target state enterprise architecture strategies and related transition roadmaps that help to define the digital program of work and guide business and ICT related investment
  • Provide advice to senior executives, program managers and solution architects on high risk, high value investments to ensure solution architecture meets enterprise wide (system manager) architecture
  • Ensure that any architecture work aligns with Queensland Health's broader enterprise architecture, while supporting changes to the enterprise architecture based on changes in the health system's technology
  • Develop comprehensive strategy responses, briefs, submissions, presentations, reports and information papers to influence the development of enterprise architecture and related project, digital planning and investment issues and

We are searching for someone who:

  • Proven experience in directing, creating to and reviewing architectural strategies, mandated principles (standards) and roadmaps that meet the strategic requirements of the health system. Demonstrated ability in ensuring compliance between business strategies, enterprise transformation activities and technology directions, setting strategies, policies, standards and practices (SFIA Skill: STPL - Enterprise architecture level 7)
  • Takes responsibility for provision of significant specialist advice and recommendations based on expertise and experience. While focused on enterprise architecture, this advice may cover a wide range of strategic business issues. (SFIA Skill: CNSL – Consultancy level 7) (NHS: Effective and strategic influencing)
  • Proven ability developing strategic approaches to understanding stakeholder objectives. Demonstrated experience actively managing the most senior of stakeholders and defining the principles of for establishing effective relationships between stakeholders. (SFIA Skill: RLMT – Stakeholder relationship management level 7) (NHS: Collaborative Working).
  • Proficiency in coordinates the promotion, acquisition, development, and implementation of information systems and services in close liaison with those responsible for management and . (SFIA Skill: ISCO – Information systems coordination level 6)
  • Capability in identifying and assessing new and emerging technologies and the evaluation of the potential impacts, threats and opportunities. Examples of creating technology roadmaps which align plans with emerging technology solutions. Experience engaging with, and influencing, relevant stakeholders to obtain business unit commitment to technology roadmaps. (SFIA Skill EMRG – Emerging technology monitoring level 6)
  • Establishment of a network of recognised experts who can deliver expert advice in areas relevant to Queensland Health's current and emergent needs. (SFIA Skill TECH – level 6)
  • Proven ability to lead the definition, implementation, and communication of a strategic management framework and direct the creation and review of a strategy and plans to support the strategic requirements of Queensland (SFIA Skill ITSP – level 7)

Desirable: 

  • A Bachelor's level degree. The degree should be either a business degree or an information technology degree. A detailed understanding of information technology and how the business works are essential to work in this
