About the role
As a Senior Psychologist within the Southern Continuing Care Team (SCCT), you will deliver advanced, evidence‑based clinical psychology services to adults with severe, complex and enduring mental health disorders. Working as a senior member of a multidisciplinary community mental health team, you will provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and therapeutic intervention within a recovery‑oriented and trauma‑informed framework.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Provision of culturally safe psychological screening and assessment (including the use of specialised psychological measures such as self-report rating scales, personality inventories, intellectual, cognitive, and capacity assessment) to assist with diagnosis, formulation, and treatment. This includes the interpretation of test results and the provision of written reports to inform treatment and guide referrals.
- Application of key psychological theories (e.g., Cross-Cultural Psychological Theories, Cognitive-Behavioural Theories, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy – Bio-Psycho-Social Model, Developmental Theories, Transtheoretical Approach - Stage of Change Model, Psychoanalytical, and Humanistic) to an understanding of consumers and development of high-level psychological formulations and care plans.
- Utilise effective communication skills to optimise clinical outcomes and work cooperatively and effectively with consumers and carers; the multidisciplinary team; other Hospital and Health Services; government and non-government support agencies, General Practitioners and Private Practitioners.
- Engage in varied and complex inter-sectoral linking and liaison with relevant stakeholders and partnerships, including communication and interpretation of complex clinical information to secure the service needs of consumers.
- Provide clinical leadership, and lead and participate in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of quality, service improvement and/or research activities that enhance the delivery of psychological services, procedures and protocols that support the continuum of care, improve consumer care and contribute to the development of an innovative adult mental health service.
