Deliver high level Social Work services to patients and families within the Gold Coast Health Women, Newborn and Children’s Services (WNCS) team based Social Work Service, in Paediatric inpatient and outpatients and the Newborn Care Unit as well as other acute social work services when necessary and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.

The Role
An opportunity has become available for a Social Worker – Senior (Paediatrics) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia.
You will
- Provide an efficient and responsive Social Work service in accordance with professional and ethical standards
- Utilise knowledge and understanding of the relevant resources, legislation and policy
- Manage a complex caseload with limited access to direct clinical practice supervision and exercise independent professional judgement
- Use available clinical evidence to inform practice and to implement quality improvement
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- Tertiary degree in Social Work
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Blue Card/Working with children check (GCH will cover cost)
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

Social Work services are provided across all six clinical directorates of the Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. Social Workers within acute health service streams at Gold Coast University Hospital (GCUH) and Robina Hospital report operationally and professionally to the Director of Social Work and Support Services through the Assistant Directors of Social Work. The Social Work Service is active in student education and training, providing continuing professional education and training, clinical supervision, and research.
