About Us:
The Pharmacy Department at Cairns Hospital provides a pharmacy service to the clinical areas of the hospital. Current services provided include outpatient pharmacy services, clinical pharmacy services to inpatient areas of Cairns Hospital, an extensive imprest service, clinical trials, and some educational services.
About your opportunity:
The position applies expert knowledge of medicines supply systems, automated dispensing technologies, and procurement processes to maintain reliable access to medicines and proactively manage supply risks.
- Monitor stock levels, usage trends and seasonal demand patterns, and take timely action within delegated authority to adjust routine orders or escalate emerging supply risks to senior pharmacists.
- Manage day-to-day medication stock control processes, including reconciliation activities, discrepancy identification, documentation and corrective actions to maintain safe and accurate inventory systems.
- Coordinate and manage pharmaceutical product recalls, including safety recalls, by identifying affected stock, arranging quarantine, maintaining required documentation and supporting communication with relevant stakeholders.
- Assist in managing medicine shortages and supply constraints by implementing agreed local mitigation strategies, reallocating stock where appropriate, and supporting timely communication with clinical teams.
