The Deputy Director-General (Network Services and Operations), oversees the state-wide integration of all public transport modes in Queensland and manage over 1200 contracts for service delivery and is also accountable for frontline operational transport services, passenger transport technology and integrated transport network operations across the state.

This role directly contributes to the vision of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, ensuring its efficient operation in connecting communities in a sustainable, thriving, and inclusive Queensland.

As Deputy Director-General, you will:

  • Ensure coordinated management of the integrated transport network, including incident response, disruption management and cross agency collaboration to maintain continuity and resilience.
  • Improve, expand and prioritise passenger transport services throughout Queensland to better align with customer and stakeholder needs by leading major cross-modal transport initiatives, including high-impact projects such as commercial contract negotiations, the delivery of realtime public transport information and improvements to transport coordination.
  • Provide oversight over frontline services, ensuring these critical public-facing roles are well-governed, capability-enabled and supported to deliver safe, compliance and responsive services.
  • Demonstrate strategic leadership in shaping Queensland's multi-modal transport future through future readiness, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Provide strategic and authoritative advice and information to the Minister, Director- General in relation to the operation of passenger transport services.
  • Cultivate a high-performing workforce with a customer-focused ethos, characterised by teamwork, open discussion, strong morale, and an unwavering commitment to achieving results.

Requirements of the role includes:

  • Commitment to understanding and meeting diverse customer and stakeholder needs.
  • Extensive leadership experience navigating complex and challenging environments, driving transformational change, and cultivating a confident, capable workforce.
  • Proven ability to foster a positive, high-performing workplace culture that supports continuous improvement and organisational resilience.
  • Proven track record in service delivery, frontline operations and public sector management.
  • Display outstanding judgement, high-level integrity, agility, adaptability and achievement orientation.
  • Possess excellent communication and negotiation skills.
