About us:
Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, offering integrated cancer care in a new state-of-the-art facility. It supports surrounding hospitals including Gladstone, Emerald, Yeppoon, and Biloela, as well as rural units referring patients for specialist care.
The hospital provides training for University of Queensland medical students through the Rural Clinical School and partners with Central Queensland University for nursing and health studies. A strong focus is placed on developing a local medical workforce, supported by an active Medical Education Unit and registrar training programs.
Specialist services include emergency, general medicine, surgery, paediatrics, obstetrics, anaesthetics, and more, with additional visiting services. The hospital is accredited for training across multiple specialties.
About the role:
- Provide a professional and courteous switchboard service to staff and customers of the hospital, ensuring appropriate action and response within suitable timeframes.
- Efficiently operate switchboard equipment by responding professionally to all incoming calls to the hospital ensuring that the caller is transferred or redirected correctly and in a timely manner.
- Communicate regularly with all departments of the hospital to maintain accurate and current records for effective switchboard operations.
- Provide a service to support hospital staff in the allocation, coordination and fault repair of all pager units for the hospital.
- Execute ethical decision-making in the achievement of departmental and organisational objectives and prioritise workload effectively and perform duties responsibly in the absence of supervision.
About you:
- Ability to exercise personal judgement and initiative in the provision of efficient telecommunication services including problem resolution and emergent response.
- High level of experience and knowledge of general office and reception duties, preferably within a Health Care environment.
- Maintain discretion, exercise judgment where necessary to resolve problems within the scope of your role in situations where precedents have not been set and procedures not defined.
- Ability to communicate at all levels and effectively establish and foster networks across the facility to assist in streamlining daily processes.
- Proficiency in the application of computerised information systems and applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Contribute to a cohesive team environment by sharing information, supporting, and assisting colleagues in a proactive manner.
What we offer:
Total remuneration value of up to $84,703 p.a. is comprised of:
- An hourly rate between $39.98 - $44.46 p.h.
- 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
- 17.5% leave loading
