In the role of Senior Advisor (HR), you will provide high-quality HR services to the Strategic Rail Branch. This includes delivering strategic advice and practical operational support to leaders and the broader workforce across a wide range of contemporary HR matters. Your contribution will directly support the achievement of key business outcomes and promote effective people management practices.
This is a full-time, temporary opportunity to backfill a period of parental leave, available from 06/06/26 to 30/04/27 with possible extension.

In this role you will:
- Provide operational advice on HR policies and procedures in accordance with Queensland Public Sector legislation, awards, agreements, and directives.
- Provide HR support and advice to the branch on all Recruitment and Selection processes, backfills, higher duties, secondments, and conversions in accordance with the Recruitment and Selection Directive and departmental policies.
- Respond promptly to enquiries received from the SRB inbox, process HR correspondence, prepare monthly Power BI HR workforce reporting, update and maintain HR trackers, and liaise with QSS and payroll to investigate and resolve HR queries.
- Demonstrate proficient technical skills in SAP and Power BI to efficiently resolve queries, troubleshoot issues, and address reporting anomalies.
- Represent the branch on committees and working groups when required, in a range of HR and
workforce projects, which include the Working for Queensland and People Pulse surveys and results.
Role requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
- 3 + years' experience working in a dedicated Human Resources role.
- Demonstrates a high-level of understanding of Human Resource disciplines and applies knowledge of policies, procedures and instruction instruments independently.
- Demonstrate proficient technical skills in SAP and Power BI to efficiently resolve queries, troubleshoot issues, and address reporting anomalies.
- Communicates in a clear, succinct and deliberate manner, adjusting the message so that it resonates with different stakeholders.
- Prioritises projects and tasks efficiently, in line with team commitments.
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
- It is a condition of employment for recommended appointee/s to disclose any previous serious discipline action taken against them for consideration by the delegate prior to any appointment.
