As a Ranger, your work will be as diverse as the landscapes you'll protect. You'll be a key player in managing all aspects of park operations, including maintaining facilities, preserving natural and cultural resources, and delivering exceptional visitor experiences. From leading guided tours through the iconic Chillagoe caves to conducting patrols and answering visitor questions, you'll play an important role in educating the public and promoting conservation awareness. Your duties will also extend to fire, pest, and weed management, helping to ensure these parks are preserved for future generations. Collaboration is central to this role, as you'll work closely with Traditional Owners to protect cultural heritage sites and develop sustainable management plans. Additionally, you'll build relationships with local landholders, community groups, and other stakeholders to foster a strong sense of shared stewardship over these unique environments.

This is a hands-on role, requiring regular fieldwork in both highly visited areas and remote, isolated locations. You'll need to be adaptable and capable of working in challenging conditions, including camping in remote areas and participating in after-hours incident response. Operating and maintaining departmental vehicles, equipment and vessels is also a key part of the role, so practical skills and a commitment to safety are essential. Your ability to work as part of a team, combined with a positive attitude and a commitment to equity and inclusion, will be crucial to your success. If you're looking for a meaningful and adventurous role where your work contributes directly to the protection of Queensland's natural and cultural heritage, join us as a Ranger in Chillagoe and help shape the future of our remarkable parks and reserves.

Applications to remain current for 12 months.
