The Assistant Director of Nursing (Adult and Older Person Inpatient) role will work closely with the Nursing / Service Director and Medical Directors for the Adult and Older Persons Service Line and Child and Youth Service line to lead effective operational management across the two service lines ensuring provision of contemporary consumer focused care by optimising staff and consumers engagement and safety.

The Role
An opportunity has become available for an Assistant Director of Nursing (Adult and Older Person Inpatient) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 13 000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia
You will
- Provide expert advice on mental health/mental health nursing as well as high level of knowledge of applicable legislation, standards, policies and procedures relevant to contemporary nursing practice and specific to mental health inpatient care
- The Assistant Director of Nursing will collaborate with inpatient Nurse Unit Manager, CYMHS Team Leaders and Seniors, education team, professional leads, lived experience team, senior management and other identified stakeholders to support service delivery
- Provide direct support to Adult and Older Persons team leaders in promoting, enhancing, fostering, developing and nursing across the service line
- Ability to adapt and be flexible within the role to manage changes and developments as the project evolves
About you
To be successful in this position you will require:
- A Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent
- Registration with the Nursing Midwifery Board of Australia
- Credentialed through the College of Mental Health Nurses (or be prepared to work towards a credential in Mental Health Nursing)
- A Masters or higher qualification within a relevant area is highly desirable
- Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against and remain vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B
- Tuberculosis screening, to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required
- Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed
- Criminal History Screening will be required for new employees (GCH will cover cost)

- $164 519 - $172 492 per annum
About Us
The Mental Health and Specialist Services Directorate provides a range of services that are both community and Hospital based. Service areas include Adult and Older Persons Mental Health inpatient and community services, Child and Youth Mental Health services, Alcohol and Drug and Specialist Services. Mental Health Services has 127 acute mental health inpatient beds across two Hospitals within Gold Coast Hospital and Health Service. These beds are located at Gold Coast University and Robina hospital
The Adult and Older Persons Service line is responsible for:
Gold Coast University Hospital: 36 Acute Adult beds, 12 Psychiatric Intensive Care (PICU) beds, 16 Older Person's beds, 4 Mother and baby beds. Robina Hospital: 19 Acute Adult, 8 short stay and 8 extended treatment beds
