About the Team

The Child Health Service (CHS) provides universal, multidisciplinary primary community health care services for children from birth to 8 years who reside in the catchment area for the Child and Youth Community Health Service (CYCHS), CHQ. The service seeks to achieve positive early childhood health and development outcomes through surveillance and monitoring of child growth and development and addressing family areas of concern using an early intervention, relationship-based framework, to reduce and minimize the impact of risk factors and strengthen parents/carers' capacity to support their child's ongoing health and development needs.

The CHS is underpinned by a Model of Care which provides the framework of an evidence-based, clinically safe practice and efficient use of resources. Clinical services are provided by qualified, culturally competent healthcare professionals, with specialist qualifications and/or experience in children's health and include Advanced Health Workers, Child Health Nurses, Social Workers, and Psychologists.
