About the Role

We're seeking a passionate and experienced Principal Lawyer to provide expert legal advice and advocacy on employment and health law matters within Metro North Health's Legal Services team. This high-impact position helps support safe and effective workforce management practices in Queensland's public health system.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering independent, high-level legal advice on complex employment and workplace relations matters.
  • Acting as an advocate in court and tribunal proceedings involving employee relations.
  • Advising on internal workplace investigations in alignment with organisational policies and legal requirements.
  • Providing expertise in compliance, risk analysis, and other legal factors affecting employment and health law in a public hospital setting.
  • Building collaborative relationships with stakeholders to support informed decision-making.

This is a permanent full-time or part-time opportunity, with negotiable hours to fit your needs. Located in Herston, you'll work as part of a values-driven team within Metro North Health.

  • Extensive expertise in employment and health law, supported by a proven ability to independently manage complex legal matters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the capacity to provide pragmatic and fearless legal advice in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in advocacy, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • A commitment to professionalism and high-calibre legal service delivery.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships across the organisation.
