The HOSES will play a key role in strengthening inclusive practices, supporting Annual Improvement Plan priorities and will contribute to building a positive culture for learning.
As the Head of Special Education Services, you will work as a key member of the school's leadership team to lead inclusive education practices and support improved outcomes for students at Sunbury State School.
The role focuses on educational leadership aligned with the Brighter Futures strategy, strengthening the quality of teaching and learning, and supporting the school's improvement priorities of enhancing reading achievement through consistent, evidence-based instruction and fostering a positive, connected school culture where students and staff experience a strong sense of belonging and wellbeing.
You will work collaboratively with staff, students, families and community partners to support inclusive practices, strong relationships and shared responsibility for student success.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage the delivery of the school's Special Education Program to ensure students requiring additional support receive high-quality teaching, intervention and adjustments aligned with departmental policies and legislation.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to the leadership team, teachers and support staff to strengthen inclusive teaching practices and responsive adjustments for diverse learners.
- Lead and model effective case management processes for students requiring targeted or intensive support.
- Work alongside teachers to develop and implement differentiated curriculum and inclusive pedagogical practices that support engagement and achievement for all learners.
- Support the school's improvement priorities through the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) to ensure effective use of data, targeted intervention and consistent whole-school practices.
- Build staff capability through coaching, collaboration and professional learning focused on inclusive classroom practice.
- Work collaboratively with families, community members, external agencies and regional teams to support positive outcomes for students.
- Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities and a positive, connected school culture as an active member of the leadership team.
