As a Senior Ranger (Technical Support - Assets Team), you will play a central role in delivering the Northern Region's asset maintenance and infrastructure program.

This role's focus area is maintenance and asset management, including the coordination of the regional maintenance program and the development of annual work programs relating to asset maintenance projects. You will be responsible for asset maintenance project management and maintaining accurate records on the status of each project, ensuring that works are delivered efficiently, safely and to the required standards.

This position blends technical oversight with strong administrative capability. You will lead procurement processes for engaging contractor services such as engineers, architects and trades, and manage associated contracts to ensure compliance, value for money and high quality outcomes. Monitoring and reporting on budget expenditure is a key component of the role, as is supporting regional staff in the use of databases, devices and applications used to undertake asset management activities.

Your work will involve collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders including neighbouring landholders, other government departments, industry groups, commercial operators, recreational user groups and Traditional Owners. You will provide information, advice and education to promote the conservation and sustainable use of protected areas. The role also contributes to emergency response, critical incident management and recovery efforts following natural disasters, requiring sound judgement, adaptability and the ability to make informed decisions within tight timeframes.

As a leader, you will guide and support a geographically dispersed team, setting priorities, allocating resources and fostering a positive, inclusive and productive work environment. You will apply agency systems and practices to manage staff, uphold workplace health and safety, and ensure team members are skilled and supported to deliver outcomes. This role requires strong communication skills, an understanding of relevant legislation and regulatory frameworks, and the ability to interpret and apply policies, guidelines and technical information. Ultimately, this position offers the opportunity to combine leadership, technical expertise and meaningful environmental stewardship. Your contribution will help ensure Queensland's protected areas remain safe, resilient and valued by all.
