The Senior Investigator is responsible for conducting culturally responsive, high quality and timely investigations into allegations of reportable conduct involving family-based carers and adult household members, under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024. The role also provides advice and support to regions and operational areas to enhance understanding and compliance with the reportable conduct scheme.

As a Senior Investigator you will:

• Manage child-centred, culturally safe, end to end investigations, analysis and assessment of reportable allegations and reportable convictions as defined under the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024.
• Conduct objective, ethical, thorough, unbiased and timely investigations of reportable conduct in accordance with the relevant policies, procedures and legislative requirements, ensuring processes are conducted professionally and uphold the principles of procedural fairness.
• Demonstrate skills in contemporary investigative practices including the ability to work collaboratively with child safety service centre staff to plan, investigate, assess and mitigate risks, gather and analyse evidence and make findings and recommendations, documented in a final written report.
• Provide advice, support and guidance to department staff on issues pertaining to the reportable conduct scheme to prevent harm to children and ensure compliance with the Child Safe Organisations Act 2024 and Child Protection Act 1999.
• Contribute effectively to the achievement of team goals and improvements as a key member of Reportable conduct investigations (family-based care).
• Be highly organised and agile to effectively manage competing priorities to meet legislated timeframes.
• Foster and maintain effective partnerships and networks with internal and external stakeholders and the regulatory body, Queensland Family and Child Commission, to share information and ensure compliance with statutory obligations.
• Actively maintain the Reportable conduct investigations (family-based care) records, case and file management systems.
• Maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to demonstrate continuing high level and contemporary reportable conduct investigations by actively participating in the professional development opportunities offered to Reportable conduct investigations (family-based care) as part of performance and development plans.
• Managing other projects and other tasks as required.
