The Principal Engineer (Civil) role is to manage and provide guidance and assistance on operational aspects of the delivery of transport infrastructure projects through the development and implementation phases, ensures completion in accordance with project and contractual requirements. This role will be responsible in leading and providing advice and direction on interpretation, application and review of design and construction standards, policies and guidelines across a range of transport infrastructure design and construction activities undertaken in Program Management and Delivery to assist the Districts.

We are seeking a Principal Engineer (Civil) to join our team based in Brisbane.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
• A four-year Washington Accord accredited, Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or an equivalence which is assessed / accepted by Engineers Australia against Washington Accord benchmarks.
• Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory for appointment to the position.
Requirements of the role
• Makes insightful, delivery focused decisions by analysing complex technical and project information, identifying root causes of issues, and providing clear, evidence based technical, contractual and transaction advice to support design and construction outcomes in road and rail infrastructure projects.
• Develops and mobilises technical capability by recognising strengths and development needs, mentoring engineers and project professionals, and integrating multidisciplinary expertise to strengthen PMD and District delivery capability.
• Drives results through strong technical leadership by supporting the consistent application of TMR standards, specifications and policies, reviewing development phase outputs, and ensuring projects are positioned for successful transition into delivery.
• Pursues continuous improvement and professional accountability by actively seeking feedback, sharing lessons learned from project delivery, and maintaining contemporary engineering knowledge through professional networks, development opportunities and applied practice.
• Demonstrates sound governance and project assurance by overseeing design development processes, maintaining accurate and current technical documentation, supporting change control, and contributing to effective project management in accordance with TMR systems, frameworks and value for money principles.
