The primary accountabilities of the Correctional Manager, Offender Development include:
• Lead, manage and oversee the provision of centre-based assessment, reintegration, rehabilitation, psychological, education, pastoral care, cultural services and meaningful activities to prisoners, ensuring these services are effectively delivered and meet the needs of prisoners.
• Participate in suicide prevention efforts within the correctional centre including the oversight and co-ordination of observation and risk assessments, including prisoners' mental health by overseeing the psychological teams and implementing appropriate interventions to mitigate the risk of self-harm.
• Lead collaborative relationships and networks with other centre stakeholders, such as Queensland Health, to ensure relationships for information sharing and continuity of care occur.
• Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, such as correctional staff, community organisations, and support services (e.g., contracted service providers, volunteers), to ensure a coordinated and comprehensive approach to offender rehabilitation and reintegration.
• Provide concise, informative, and timely briefings to the Superintendent, including the exchange of information between agencies to maximise the protection of the community in a timely manner.
• Contribute to the dynamic security of the centre as an integral member of the senior management team, engaging in broader centre safety and security activities such as operational decision making, multi-disciplinary assessment, management, and case co-ordination of individual prisoners, and, giving advice to the operational workforce and external stakeholders when required.
• Implement contemporary Human Resource management practices to effectively lead, develop, and nurture a skilled and engaged team, cultivating a positive workforce culture that fosters motivation, productivity, and a service-oriented working environment.
• Develop and maintain appropriate reporting systems and processes to facilitate effective performance, financial and resource management.
• Provide supervision and monitoring for emerging issues and risks that may arise outside of regular hours on a rotating 24x7 on-call basis; providing immediate and direct oversight, support and guidance to on-site Correctional Supervisors, and, the conduit to senior leadership for matters requiring higher delegation and / or briefing.
