Workshop Officer - Spray Painter

The Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art seeks a qualified Spray Painter to join its production team.
This position will perform a key hands-on role in the preparation of a range of projects at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art.
This includes the prefabrication, construction, installation and maintenance of exhibitions, collection displays and other audience engagement spaces and projects.
The role will be required to work responsively and flexibly adapting to a variety of tasks that may be specific to this trade area or more general in relation to the types of exhibitions the Gallery undertakes.
The role works together with a range of fulltime and casual tradespeople and trade assistants, contractors, and staff from various disciplines.
Work may be physical and requires a suitable level of fitness and mobility.

Drawing on trade skills and experience in spray painting and surface finishing, the Workshop Officer - Spray Painter position is required to work within a team of tradespeople to perform a key hands-on role in preparing and finishing a range of projects at the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art.
The position will work with a comprehensive range of specialist spray painting and finishing equipment in-house to produce high-quality finishes for cabinetry, joinery, artwork display, and storage solutions under the supervision of the Workshop Manager and Leading Hand positions. The role requires a strong focus on surface preparation, priming, painting, and finishing, utilizing advanced techniques to meet the Gallery's exacting standards.
The role will be required to work responsively and flexibly to the demands of the exhibition program, adapting to a variety of tasks specific to spray painting and surface finishing or more general workshop support for the diverse exhibitions the Gallery undertakes.
The role works together with fulltime and casual Carpenters and other tradespeople and trade assistants, contractors, and staff from various disciplines. Work may be physical and requires a suitable level of fitness and mobility. Applicants must be willing to adapt to a flexible working arrangement at peak times when weekend and evening work may be required.
