Your new Role:
As Principal Lawyer, you will deliver expert, strategic legal advice across a broad portfolio including medico-legal, governance, litigation, and regulatory matters within Metro South Health. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, you will oversee complex legal issues, manage litigation and coronial matters, and provide trusted counsel to executives and senior leaders. You will also supervise and develop junior lawyers, strengthen organisational legal capability, and ensure robust compliance, risk management, and decision-making across the health service.

You are a highly experienced legal professional who thrives in complex environments, delivering strategic, solutions-focused advice while leading and developing others.
- Extensive experience in health law, litigation and regulatory matters
- Proven ability to deliver clear, timely and pragmatic legal advice
- Strong stakeholder engagement with executive-level influence
- Demonstrated leadership in mentoring and developing legal staff
- Exceptional judgement, risk management and decision-making skills

About the Legal Team
The Metro South Health legal team pride themselves on delivering best practice legal advice and solutions to the organisation across a broad spectrum of areas, ranging from commercial and contract law issues to all aspects of health and medico-legal matters including coronial matters, human rights, anti-discrimination and administrative law. We work within a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
The legal team has a crucial role to play in:
- Supporting the delivery of high quality, effective and efficient health services for our patients; and
- Legal risk management for MSH.
