The centrally located Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Advisor is responsible for managing a portfolio of Worker Compensation claims. Developing, organising and promoting rehabilitation, safety and wellbeing activities, along with data management and reporting associated with safety, health and wellbeing tasks and functions.

Within this scope you will support the functions of the SHW team to achieve organisational goals, by delivering quality and accurate advice to all stakeholders.

As SHW Advisor, you will specifically:

• Demonstrate cultural capability and/or a commitment to developing cultural capability to ensure an inclusive culture that aligns with the Human Rights Act 2019 and supports departmental programs and community partnerships aimed at preserving cultural connections for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
• Perform the functions of Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator as outlined under the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 to assist the department to discharge its legal obligations.
• Assist in the management of worker's compensation claims and rehabilitation and return to work activities.
• Develop, implement, and maintain administrative and office systems and processes, to ensure high quality service delivery. This will include ensuring data is accurate to enable the provision of accurate and relevant information to the Principal Advisor , SHW Team and other stakeholders.
• Provide information, instruction and training to management and staff on workplace health and safety and worker's compensation and rehabilitation issues, including relevant legislation and policy.
• Where required, lead or work as a member of a team, incorporating workplace health and safety functions.
• Engage in hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control activities.
• You possess sound knowledge and application of the Workers' Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003 and associated regulations and standards.
• Provide assistance to the Principal Advisor Safety Health and Wellbeing as required.
