The Rail Infrastructure Delivery Office (RIDO) is responsible for driving the coordinated delivery of a major, $7 billion rail program of works within a complex, safety-critical operating environment.
As Executive Director (Rail Delivery & Safety), you will hold enterprise-level accountability for the assurance, governance and performance of rail infrastructure delivery. Your focus will be ensuring that projects transition effectively from planning through to operational readiness, with strong alignment between design intent, constructability and network integration.
You will establish and embed consistent governance and assurance frameworks across the portfolio, strengthening visibility of risk, performance and delivery confidence at an executive level. This includes setting expectations for program controls, reporting and decision-making that enable disciplined, high-quality outcomes across multiple concurrent projects.
A core component of the role is leading safety assurance across the delivery lifecycle. You will ensure compliance with the Rail Safety National Law, Work Health and Safety requirements and regulatory obligations, while also lifting the maturity of safety systems, assurance practices and accountabilities across the portfolio. You will also oversee critical preconstruction activities, including feasibility, site investigations and possession planning, ensuring alignment between operational rail requirements and construction delivery.
Building on RIDO's reputation for disciplined delivery, you will work closely with delivery partners, operators and government stakeholders to ensure infrastructure is not only delivered, but delivered in a way that supports operational performance, reliability and long-term network outcomes. Your ability to align technical, operational and stakeholder considerations will be critical in a highly interdependent environment.
This role requires strong judgement, the ability to navigate complexity and a clear line of sight between delivery decisions and their downstream operational impact. It offers the opportunity to influence how safety, assurance and performance are embedded at scale across a major rail program of work.
Applications will remain current for a period of 12 months.
