Start a new journey with West Moreton Health! • Prison and Youth Detention Health Services (PYDHS) is a rapidly growing division within the West Moreton Health region, delivering primary health care services to detained, remanded and sentenced prisoners and Young Persons across eight facilities (six Correctional Centres and two Youth Detention Centres).
Prison and Youth Detention Health Services has varied operating hours at each centre. We are a seven-day service with either 24/7 roster or two-shift roster (AM and PM), with centres varying between 8 hour, 9.5 hour, and 12 hour rotating shifts

About the role
The Nurse Practitioner, within credentialed scope of practice provides nursing leadership, clinical governance, case management and complex clinical care and support for patients within the correctional environment. The majority of health care provided to patients in the custodial setting is based within a model of primary health care and predominantly relates to the management of chronic disease, infectious disease, co-morbidity (Alcohol and Drug Addiction and Mental Health Service) and the provision of acute care as required. The role includes the key co-ordination functions of complex evidence-based care delivery across a continuum and education provision for patients and staff.

Mandatory Requirements:
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16
