The QAS Social Worker: Clinical Lead role supports application and implementation the strategic goals of the QAS by providing contemporary, safe health care to patients who have called Triple Zero (000) in new and innovative ways.

The Social Work: Clinical Lead will deliver advanced-level Social Work services and clinical leadership as an integral member of the QAS’ Integrated Multi-Disciplinary Care Programs.

The role will lead the strategic direction, stakeholder engagement and contribute to the implementation of the direction and strategic focus as guided by the development of the program area in relation to the developing roles and responsibilities for Social Workers within the QAS.

We are seeking applicants who, within the context of the role responsibilities, possess the following key attributes:

• Demonstrated ability to provide consistent, evidence based and high-quality social work interventions, including a detailed knowledge of legislative requirements and evidence based best practices in the areas of child safety, domestic and family violence, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Aged Care, mental health, and other associated indicators of vulnerabilities.
• Demonstrated high level knowledge and detailed understanding of ambulance and health service delivery and the issues impacting on the health care system statewide; including an understanding of the complex systems and processes which see vulnerable people require emergency services.
• Demonstrated high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in professional leadership and professional governance in QAS Social Work, including the ability to lead and contribute to the strategic direction for Social Work, apply professional standards and coordinate service improvement initiatives
• Proven ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, consult and collaborate to build and maintain productive relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders including people from diverse cultural, social and professional backgrounds, and to positively advocate and achieve desired outcomes for vulnerable patients and the QAS.
• Detailed understanding of the support sector resources throughout the state, or the ability to rapidly acquire and collate information regarding support sector resources.
• Proven ability to rapidly solve problems, manage complex health care issues and deliver pre-hospital care in a non-traditional and virtual setting.
• Ability to rapidly acquire an understanding and application of QAS operating systems, polices, procedures and the out of hospital context of health care provision.

Mandatory/Special conditions/Other requirements

The following mandatory requirements, special conditions and/or other requirements apply to this role:

• The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Social Work.
• It is a mandatory requirement for all social work positions that the candidate is eligible for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Eligibility is dependent on the candidate having completed a university level Social Work Degree accredited by the AASW, and that the candidate does not have any other outstanding professional competency or ethical issues or complaints known to the AASW which may preclude membership to the association.
• The incumbent will be required to travel on official business, within the local area and around the state and the possession of a C class driver's licence will be required.
• It is an express condition of employment for all people who are to perform roles with direct patient contact to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following infectious diseases during their employment: Diphtheria; Tetanus; Pertussis (Whooping Cough); Hepatitis B; Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR); Varicella (Chickenpox); Influenza. Please note, there may be additional vaccination requirements depending on individual circumstances as specified in the QAS Infection Control Framework.
• Position requires participation in shift work (including weekends) and may undertake overtime.
