An exciting opportunity exists to join the Gynaecology Clinic as a Clinical Nurse. The Clinical Nurse is a member of the Gynaecology Outpatients team and supports the delivery of safe, high‑quality nursing care under the direction of the Clinical Nurse Consultant/Nurse Unit Manager. About us:
The Gynaecology Outpatients Team forms part of the Women's Health Service at Cairns Hospital and delivers specialist outpatient care to women across the Cairns and Hinterland region. The service provides assessment, treatment, and ongoing management for a wide range of gynaecological conditions in a planned, ambulatory care setting.
The team supports women with both acute and chronic gynaecological conditions, facilitating timely access to specialist consultation, procedural care, follow‑up services, and care coordination. Services are provided to a diverse population, including women from rural and remote communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, with care delivered in a culturally safe, respectful, and patient‑centred manner.
The Gynaecology Outpatients Team operates within a multidisciplinary model of care, working collaboratively with medical officers, nursing staff, midwifery, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to ensure safe, effective, and coordinated services across the care continuum.
The unit is committed to high standards of clinical governance, patient safety, and quality improvement, and supports professional development, clinical supervision, and education for staff working within the outpatient setting. The service plays an important role in supporting continuity of care between inpatient, outpatient, and community services within CHHHS.

About your role:
- Accountable for NMBA and own standards, actions and the outcomes of own nursing/midwifery practice, professional advice given and for activities delegated to a Registered Nurse/Registered Midwife, Enrolled Nurse, or unregulated healthcare worker.
- Facilitate access to appropriate care, co-ordinate referrals and provide information with regards to Termination of Pregnancy.
- Assist as directed within the clinic team for Gynaecology procedures.
- Preparation of equipment required for sterile procedures and demonstration of patient care and assistance to medical staff during the gynaecology procedures.
