About us:
Cairns Hospital delivers acute adult and paediatric medical and surgical care, including emergency and high‑acuity services. The Cairns ICU is a Level III general unit providing complex adult and paediatric critical care, predominantly for emergency admissions from a large tropical and remote catchment. The unit manages severe illness such as sepsis and trauma, supports a significant Indigenous population, and is actively involved in education, training, research, and national intensive care networks.

About your role:
- Provide comprehensive care to critically ill patients, including assessment, diagnosis, and management of complex medical conditions.
- Ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care in accordance with Queensland Health policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Perform advanced clinical procedures such as intubation, central venous catheterisation, arterial line insertion, and other ICU-related interventions under supervision.
- Contribute to clinical research projects, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice within the ICU.
- Stay updated on advancements in critical care medicine and incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice.
