As a Principal Developer, you will ensure that Queensland Health's integrated solution is properly designed, configured, developed, documented, implemented, maintained and reviewed, in order to provide ongoing best practice and quality service to clients.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead and mentor senior developers in designing, developing, implementing and maintaining system enhancements and modifications in the delivery of the Queensland Health's Enterprise Corporate Applications.
  • Analyse business requirements and system specifications and provide specialised expertise to staff and management to ensure specifications are aligned to business requirements.
  • Analyse and solve complex system problems to provide innovative solutions to business requirements in the delivery of support to Queensland Health and completion of project work in required timeframes.
  • Complete system design, specification, development, unit testing and maintenance and associated documentation of the applications and systems managed by Corporate Enterprise Solutions in strict compliance with Corporate Enterprise Solutions development standards.

Role fit:

The role requires a professional with extensive experience in business application development, including deep knowledge of contemporary development technologies and trends, and the capability to apply this expertise within a complex IT environment. It also calls for substantial exposure to major project management activities, supported by a thorough understanding of recognised methodologies, principles and practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to consult and negotiate effectively with diverse stakeholders on complex business requirements while sharing knowledge with team members and clients. The position further requires the ability to support management and team leaders by guiding and assisting team members to deliver high‑quality services within agreed service level timeframes.
