Reviews and School Improvement (RSI) provides system monitoring and assurance to support continuous improvement in Queensland state schools and education centres by providing leadership and oversight for targeted insights reviews. In addition, the RSI contributes significantly to distilling and sharing evidence-based insights and effective practices, to inform school improvement across the Queensland education system. Insights reviews (behaviour) will provide schools with practical guidance to strengthen their discipline systems and practices, enabling every school to deliver excellence through maintaining high expectations, a positive learning culture and quality teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will be employed at the classification listed on the attached role description under EOSD provisions.
About the Role
RSI are seeking Principals, Insights Reviews (behaviour) with particular knowledge and experience in leading effective and responsive school systems and practices which support student engagement for learning and providing effective support and interventions for student with diverse learning needs and complex behaviours.
As the Principal, Insights Reviews you will:
- Lead insights reviews (behaviour) across Queensland State Schools to inform school and system improvement.
- Play a key role in the delivery of the insights reviews as a team member.
- Contribute to development of insights reviews methodology and processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver insights reviews, aligned to system priorities and initiatives, using evidence-based tools and methodologies.
- Conduct insights reviews in line with agreed methodologies and processes.
- As chair, lead teams, including the support and mentoring of review team members.
- Capture high-quality evidence in reports that generate insights to inform school, region and system decision making.
- Identify and share effective practice.
- Collaboratively develop and implement approaches responsive to current and emerging system priorities.
- Foster high quality collaboration, communication, cultural awareness and information sharing to enable an understanding of the complexities and challenges that exist in specific targeted areas.
- Develop a rapport and engage with a range of external and internal stakeholders including Principals, school leaders, teachers, school staff, students, parents, regional staff and carers and community members to effectively and collaboratively enable an integrated approach to deliver the vision of the department.
- Provide advice and expertise to improve school systems and processes that promote engagement and educational outcomes for all students, including those with diverse and/or complex learning needs.
- Understand and apply the legislation and policies that influence schooling especially in relation to students with diverse and/or complex learning needs and young people who are not actively engaged in a learning pathway.
- Develop, articulate and promote a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students, including those with diverse and/or complex learning needs.
The timing and location of school reviews can be a determining factor in when the employee is appointed.
Successful applicants will be expected to attend training prior to undertaking the role.
Applicants must be available to travel, including overnight absences.
Mandatory Requirements:
- You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments
- You must be currently employed as a Principal or Acting Principal in a Queensland state school
- Employees engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 7.4 of the Department of Education State School Teachers Certified Agreement 2019
